Got Your 6 Statement on Today’s White House Meeting with President Trump
WASHINGTON (March 17, 2017) – Got Your 6 Executive Director and Iraq War veteran Bill Rausch today joined the leadership of nine other major veteran service organizations in a meeting with President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary David Shulkin, and key White House officials to discuss policies to support and empower America’s veterans.
“The budget proposal released yesterday demonstrates the President’s clear commitment to our nation’s veterans by increasing VA funding by six percent,” said Rausch. “Today’s engagement with our Commander-in-Chief was an opportunity to encourage the President to elevate veterans’ issues beyond the walls of VA to ensure all 21.8 million veterans — including the 13 million veterans who do not use the VA — are empowered to lead a resurgence of community across the country.”
Rausch continued, “Through our research, we know that veterans vote, volunteer, and participate more in our communities. As a result, we believe our vets are the leaders we need to tackle our nation’s most pressing problems. Today we urged the President to sign an executive order to establish a White House Office on Veteran Empowerment and use his unique voice to promote a proactive and positive veteran empowerment message.”
