Top Chicago Employers Seek to Hire Veterans and Military Spouses

The 100,000 Jobs Mission – a coalition of 55 companies committed to hiring 100,000 veterans by 2020 – is partnering with federal, state and local leaders to host a hiring event in Chicago this Thursday, July 12, at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The event will feature 80 employers and more than 1,500 employment opportunities. These companies are looking to hire transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses for jobs ranging from entry-level to managerial positions in the Chicago area and across the country. Candidates are encouraged to register and upload their resumes ahead of time and should come prepared for same-day interviews – and even same-day offers. With more than 12,000 veterans hired in the 100,000 Jobs Mission’s first 12 months, these employers are committed to the long-term success of veteran employment and are among the 2,100 companies throughout America who have hired veterans and military spouses through Joining Forces in the last year. The hiring event is a great example of a wide range of organizations joining forces to serve our veterans and military families as well as they have served us. These organizations include: the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the American Legion, Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Student Veterans of America (SVA), U.S. Department of Labor – VETS, U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. This should be a great event – and a tremendous opportunity for veterans to land meaningful employment. The momentum on veteran hiring is going strong, with more than 1,300 veterans having been offered jobs at a hiring event in Detroit sponsored by the VA just two weeks ago. The event this Thursday in Chicago is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Find out more here.
Wow! all this great information being distributted thru the country and I am a recently released army recruiter and professional soldier. My records are awesome and I know this.., I have taken somemuch pride after where I come from in Detroit Mi. After returning to Michigan for a second time Michigan has not served me in any capacity. The best things I have developed out of this state is my wife and beautiful family. We have a wonderful home but it hard to pay for it because I can’t seem to seize official employment. Michigan is terrible. There is a minimum of military installations and soldiers are not as celebrated here amongst civilians unlike southern states. My wife recently diagnost with a dibilitating illness who has been carry the financial ball and now it’s hard. I would like to have someone contact me and assist me. The VA in Detroit has improperly informed me and finally got me in school. But still no kob no money we are suffering indirecly. Contact me Russell JOhnson.., My background is in order and I am marketable. 313-778-3548
