The Got Your 6 campaign unites the entertainment industry with top veteran-focused nonprofit organizations. The goal of the campaign is to bridge the civilian-military divide by creating a new conversation in America, so that veterans and military families are perceived as leaders and civic assets.

Why do we need this program?
With the amount of veterans re-entering civilian life, it’s up to all of us to make aid in their transition, foster their leadership, and help them to reinvigorate our communities. Veterans are leaders and civic assets, and if we want them to take leadership roles in our communities we must have high expectations for them.

Every penny supports the work of the six pillars. 100% of all donations made online—free from any overhead or administrative expenses—are distributed to the nonprofit organizations that lead the six pillars of the Got Your 6 campaign. Got Your 6 is a campaign of Be The Change, Inc.—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under federal tax guidelines. Donations made to Got Your 6 are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The six pillars of reintegration are Jobs, Education, Health, Housing, Family, and Leadership. Through supporting these, Got Your 6 aims to make reintegration a success by addressing the many ways that veterans are leaders and community assets.
Is the government involved?
Federal government stakeholders have provided continual counsel to the campaign. Government stakeholders in Got Your 6 include the First Lady’s Joining Forces campaign, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, and the Corporation for National & Community Service. However, the Got Your 6 campaign receives no government funding.

Veterans experience negative stigmas because of misinterpreted information about homelessness, poverty, and PTSD. Got Your 6 aims to correct these views and show that veterans are extremely successful, capable, and intelligent people who have made the choice to defend their country and serve for their friends, families, and neighbors. More importantly, they bring their skills and desire to serve with them when they return to our communities.
